Darryl Phippen, Partner, CFP, CLU, CH.F.C.
Darryl brings more than 39 years of experience in the insurance industry. He started working for Halpenny Insurance Brokers Ltd in 1977. In 2001, he founded Halpenny Insurance Benefit Partners Ltd with David McCulloch to provide specialized expertise in the areas of Employee and Group Benefits, Corporate Life Insurance, Executive Disability Coverage and Pensions & Retirement Planning.
Darryl’s areas of expertise include Key Person Insurance, Buy-sell Agreement Funding, Business Insurance, Employee Benefits, Investments & Pension. Darryl oversees Leystone Insurance & Financial Inc.’s Group Retirement Services and Personal Financial Services team.
Darryl works primarily with both small and large business owners to design insurance and investment solutions that will work over time as their business evolves. Darryl is recognized by clients and colleagues for his ability to turn complicated situations into simple solutions that solve client problems and help in moving forward with purchasing a sensible solution to their insurance and investment needs.
David McCulloch, Partner
David McCulloch founded Leystone Insurance & Financial Inc. in partnership with his business partner Darryl Phippen in 2016. Previous to Leystone, he spent 16 years as a partner at Halpenny Insurance Benefit Partners Ltd in their Employee Benefit Division.
David brings more than 20 years of experience in the employee group and individual healthcare benefits industry in many capacities including Sales, Marketing, Product and Systems Development as well as, Finance and Administration.
Prior to establishing himself as an independent broker, David specialized in group benefits for one of Canada’s largest insurance providers, Great-West Life.
Today, David draws from his team of benefit specialists focusing on plan design, cost containment and alternative funding arrangements of both private and public sectors, with experience in all sizes of case management.
David is a broadly recognized expert in his field both in Canada and internationally. David’s leadership has been recognized by industry leaders as a Gold Key Advisor. He was awarded the title of Leading New Agent across Canada. He has since earned awards including Small & Large Group leader awards and acknowledgments for exceptional performance in disability insurance sales and service.
Steve Kahler, Employee Pension and Benefits Consultant
Steve has been a part of the Leystone team for more than 17 years and manages group health and retirement benefit plans for his valued clients, including several national programmes in both the profit and not-for-profit arenas. Steve offers his clients additional services and advice on Individual Life insurance including business key man coverage, and personal Health, Dental, and Travel Insurance.
Steve has assisted many not-for-profit clients successfully apply for and receive more than $100,000 in funding for their corporate initiatives from a major insurance company.

Carole Lanthier, Group Client Service & Administration Manager
Carole has been working with Leystone Insurance & Financial Inc. since 2005 and provides the highest level of service for all group plan administrators and plan members. She brings extensive experience and knowledge with expertise in providing exceptional group administrative support.
Katy Gibbons, Group Client Service & Administration
Katy joined the Leystone Insurance & Financial team in 2012 and provides administrative support for group clients. With experience working in management and administration for more than 10 years, she is self-directed, highly-organized professional with extensive experience in administrative duties, office management, and Customer Service. A people person with excellent communications skills, eagerness to learn and determination to conquer new challenges, Katy is well-liked by clients and colleagues.
Katy’s attention to detail and positive attitude make her a valued member of the team. In managing Administration as a Service Rep, Katy deals directly with clients and their staff to administer policies, resolve claiming issues, conduct and prepare marketing analysis.
Sharon Grenier-Wood, Individual Insurance & Financial Services Administration
Sharon has been working in the insurance industry since 2005 and joined Leystone Insurance & Financial Inc. in 2010. She provides individual insurance, investment and group retirement clients with the highest quality of Customer Service and support. Sharon specializes in Individual Life, Living Benefits and Health & Dental, alongside Individual Investments and Group Retirement Services. Clients and colleagues recognize Sharon for her enthusiasm and positive attitude.
